Skewed Maps, Skewed Outcomes

A new YouGov survey finds that large majorities of Americans agree: gerrymandering—where politicians pick their voters instead of the other way around—is unfair and a real problem. When politicians and party insiders draw their own districts, maps can be engineered to protect incumbents—not voters. That drains competition by manufacturing “safe” seats, so many races are decided before Election Day. It also erodes public confidence in elections and makes it harder for voters to hold leaders accountable.

We don’t just need fair maps, we also need a fairer system where every voter matters. Consensus Choice Voting can contribute to addressing root causes of challenges to fair elections by making EVERY voter matter, increasing accountability and representation.
